सहयज्ञाः प्रजाः सृष्ट्वा पुरोवाच प्रजापतिः। अनेन प्रसविष्यध्वमेष वोऽस्त्विष्टकामधुक् ॥१०॥

Modern conflicts increasingly span multiple domains simultaneously: conventional military operations, cyber attacks, information warfare, economic pressure, unmanned systems, and civilian participation. In that context, this verse can be viewed as emphasizing the importance of collective responsibility rather than suggesting any particular military strategy. Hybrid warfare affects not only armed forces but also civilians, critical infrastructure, communication networks, and digital systems.The idea of "सहयज्ञाः" (created together with Yajña) can be interpreted as:Security is not solely the responsibility of the military.Citizens, researchers, industry, academia, government agencies, and the armed forces each contribute to national resilience. Every stakeholder has a role in sustaining the larger system. This parallels contemporary concepts such as whole-of-government and whole-of-society approaches to resilience. Modern battlefields require synchronized action across multiple capabilities rather than isolated excellence. Examples include:Cyber defence, Electronic warfare, Intelligence, Space assets, Air defence, Logistics, Public information, Civil administration etc. The verse's emphasis on a cooperative order can be understood as highlighting that enduring success comes from integrating these diverse capabilities into a coherent whole. The engineers, scientists, and innovators contribute through developing systems that strengthen national security. Their work becomes part of a broader ecosystem rather than an isolated commercial activity. Hybrid conflicts often seek to disrupt trust, communications, and essential services. The verse suggests that a society prospers when its members uphold mutual obligations. In a contemporary context, this can be seen as encouraging: cyber awareness, protection of critical infrastructure, responsible information sharing, institutional cooperation, and preparedness across society. Such resilience can reduce vulnerabilities that adversaries may seek to exploit.

यज्ञार्थात्कर्मणोऽन्यत्र लोकोऽयं कर्मबन्धन: । तदर्थं कर्म कौन्तेय मुक्तसङ्ग: समाचर ॥ 9॥

Work done for any purpose other than sacrifice (yagya) leads to bondage in this world.Therefore, O Arjuna, perform your actions for that higher purpose, without attachment.

🎯 Mission Above Self (यज्ञार्थ कर्म) - All the components of Hybrid Warfare (Cyber Ops, Intel Ops, Info Warfare, Conventional Warfare) must operate on a higher doctrine of national security, global security and long term sustenance, without which it results into fragmented, rogue and unintended escalations. 🔗 Action vs Bondage (कर्म vs कर्मबंधन) - Action with right intent leads to clarity, legitimacy and sustainable strategy where as wrong intent leads to legal risks, diplomatic fall outs and a reverse impact. 🧠 Detached Execution (मुक्तसंग) - Any decision taken with emotions leads to operational failure. नियतं कुरु कर्म त्वं कर्म ज्यायो ह्यकर्मण: | शरीरयात्रापि च ते न प्रसिद्ध्येदकर्मण: || 8||

One must perform the assigned work as an action is superior to inaction. Without action, even basic survival becomes impossible

Persistent, disciplined action across domains is superior to passivity that results into systemic gaps which subsequently gets exploited. Hybrid Warfare thrives on unpatched systems, slow response, unclear ownership and accountability, therefore inaction creates void thereby resulting into an expanding attack surface. "Niyatam Karma" are the defined roles and drills. Every part of the system must know its standard tasks and become adept at executing them. Clarity of duty and speed of action leads to development of a resilient system. "Shariryatra" - speaks of keeping the system running, keeping the critical services up and running, maintaining public trust and ensure effective, efficient and non-poisonable supply chains. Operational continuity therefore is a form of defence. In hybrid conflict, over-analysis delays response therefore the prescription is to act within your defined doctrines and refine while moving. In hybrid warfare, disciplined, continuous action across domains is the defense—inaction is the opening your adversary needs.

यस्त्विन्द्रियाणि मनसा नियम्यारभतेऽर्जुन | कर्मेन्द्रियै: कर्मयोगमसक्त: स विशिष्यते || 7||

A person who has control over his senses and is not overwhelmed by his desires, one who focusses on his Karma is known to be superior over others

Disciplined execution without cognitive contamination - In hybrid warfare, “indriyas” (senses) translate to - Incoming intelligence streams (SIGINT, OSINT, HUMINT), Social media noise / disinformation, Real-time battlefield telemetry, Political pressure and media narratives, as well as other sensors (SIGINT, COMINT, IMINT, MASMINT etc). The “mind controlling senses” translates to existence of Cognitive filtering frameworks, AI-assisted signal validation and Bias suppression in decision loops. The organs of action in this context are - Cyber units (offense/defense), Drone fleets and autonomous systems, Electronic warfare systems, Information operations units and other conventional methods and strategies. In order to effectively align activities one must - define Rules of Engagement (RoE) for cyber retaliation, design modular command systems, Automated but supervised response loops (human-in-the-loop AI),. Superiority or the Information Dominance in the hybrid warfare comes from acting in a way that is not a Revenge-driven retaliation or a Political optics overriding strategy, an Overconfidence after early success, or even an escalation due to ego (national or leadership level). No emotional attachment to immediate outcomes and a focus on long-term strategic stability, avoiding “win the battle, lose the war” scenarios only leads to Information Dominance in the current asymmetric hybrid battlefield

कर्मेन्द्रियाणि संयम्य य आस्ते मनसा स्मरन् । इन्द्रियार्थान्विमूढात्मा मिथ्याचारः स उच्यते ॥ ६॥

One who suppresses his sensory organs by force and thinks at his will is a hypocrite.

Hybrid Warfare thrives precisely on these policies. (a) Outward restraint with inward intent : Publicly advocate a philosophy and privately conduct activities opposed to the philosophies. States often advocate peace, international law, democracy, however may privately and covertly conduct cyber intrusions, proxy wars, economic coercion and information manipulation. (b) Information and Cognitive Wars: The practice of mental fixation on objectives while protecting moral restraints is often observed in info and cognitive wars. Perception management and information doctoring is a norm today which is a part and parcel of the hybrid grey zone warfare. (c) Non-Kinetic Camouflage: Hybrid warfare avoids visible kinetic actions but the engagement continues with the adversary in different forms. Espionage and information monitoring is a process in continuum. (d) Proxy Actors and plausible deniability: Hybrid Warfare engages militants, hacktivists, civil societies, journalists and thinktanks and also minorities as an instrument of entropical changes.

न हि कश्चित्क्षणमपि जातु तिष्ठत्यकर्मकृत् | कार्यते ह्यवश: कर्म सर्व: प्रकृतिजैर्गुणै: || 5||

Renouncing deeds completely is not possible and can not be avoided. Every one is forced to act depending on his natural self.

In the context of Hybrid Warfare the following points are evident - (a) No Neutrality in Hybrid Conflict - Hybrid Warfare operates across military, cyber, information, economic, legal and psychological spectrums. Therefore an idea of non-participation does not hold good. A nation that does not actively shape narratives, takes a cyber posture, manages its supply chains or maintain public sentiments woul dlose ground before the advent of the war. (b) Natural Compulsions - States donot choose whetehr they would participate or not in a hybrid war, their structure forces their participation that includes - political, economic, technological, social and media environments. (c) Hybrid Warfare thrives on Delay, Denial, Ambiguity. Inaction does not guarantee isolation and consequences. (d) Psychological Actions - Hybris Warfare succeeds becaulse people can not stop reacting - even silence, outrage or apathy feeds the system. In hybrid warfare, as in the Gītā, no actor can remain inactive; systemic forces compel participation, and failure to act consciously results in being acted upon.

न कर्मणामनारम्भान्नैष्कर्म्यं पुरुषोऽश्रुते । न च सन्न्यसनादेव सिद्धिं समधिगच्छति ॥४॥

A person does not attain freedom from action by abstaining from action, nor does he achieve perfection merely by renunciation.

लोकेऽस्मिन्द्विविधा निष्ठा पुरा प्रोक्ता मयानघ । ज्ञानयोगेन सांख्यानां कर्मयोगेन योगिनाम् ॥३॥

Lord Krishna explains - In this world there are two faiths that di9fferent people follow - One faith is for the seekers of spiritual wisdom who are known as Gyaan Yogi and the other is for those who are deed oriented known as Karma Yogi

Hybrid Warfare is characterized by a fusion of hard power (kinetic/Military) and soft power (Information, economic, cognitive, cyber, psychological). Knowledge in this context means Intelligence Fusion, Narrative Shaping and Strategic Foresight and Doctrinal clarity. व्यामिश्रेणेव वाक्येन बुद्धिं मोहयसीव मे । तदेकं वद निश्चित्य येन श्रेयोऽहमाप्नुयाम् ॥२॥

Arjun tells Krishna that by placing wisdom over deeds, he is now confused as to why Lord Krishna is pushing him into war.

The confusions arising out of mixed signals or a mix of contradictory strategies could represent Psychological Operations aimed at disorienting the enemy by providing misinformation, disinformation or causing internal conflict and confusion. The objective is to weaken the enemy's morale, increase internal divisions and make them unable to act decisively. Tools of creation of such situations in the modern days war could be through media manipulations, social media campaigns and cyber attacks spreading false or opportunistic narratives. Therefore focusing on core objectives and ignoring the confusing aspects help achieve greater good.

ज्यायसी चेत्कर्मणस्ते मता बुद्धिर्जनार्दन | तत्किं कर्मणि घोरे मां नियोजयसि केशव || 1||
